My New Year Resolutions - 2010

 Written by me for me:

1. Catch my first plump squirrel!
2. Catch my second plump squirrel
3. Catch my third plump squirrel
4. Catch my fourth plump squirre
5. Catch my fifth plump squirrel
6. Catch my sixth plump squirrel
7. Catch my seventh plump squirrel
8. Catch my eighth plump squirrel
9. Catch my ninth plump squirrel
10. Catch my tenth plump squirrel

Written by my person for me:

1. Never notice a plump squirrel
2. If I notice a plump squirrel, ignore it
3. If I can't ignore it, just look at it casually
4. If I can't be casual, let out a little bark
5. If I can't just bark once, bark a bunch of times
6. If I can't just bark, pull on the leash gently
7. If I can't just pull on the leash gently, pull a bit harder, but in no case actually rip off my person's arm
8. Never combine all 3 bad behaviors of barking crazily, pulling on the leash wildly, and jumping up and down in a manic frenzy
9. Even if I do all of the above when my person screams at me, stop immediately and sit quietly
10. At least look guilty after I demonstrate my rodent obsession and lick my person's face to tell her I am really, really sorry

Dog Park Muddiness

Just came back from the dog park.  Bandit and Music were there with Carl and Karen, two of their people.  Of course Buffy and Pumpkin and my person came with me!  Lots of dogs and people, and lots of mud.  Buffy jumped on everyone's lap to wipe off his feet.  An Australian Shepherd wanted to play with me but I ignored him...his goal actually was to herd me around the park.  Yes, I'm white, but no I am not a sheep!

Merry Christmas 2009!

Happy Holidays to all of my Kachinglers!  Today is a good day so far.  I went for a ride in the car with my person and later we are going to go for a long walk where I can see, if not catch, plump squirrels.

I got a bunch of squeaky toys from Santa Claus and killed off the soft plush one right away.  Buffy is still playing with the carcass.

Yesterday my person took Buffy and Pumpkin and me to Mitchell dog park and our cousins Music and Bandit came by with two of their people (Danielle and Erica) and my new little puppy buddy Sydney also showed up (with his people Bill and Vivian).  That was the first time Sydney had ever been to a dog park.   Wow, he's not shy that's for sure even though he's tiny -- even smaller than Buffy.

My Pet Rat

Well last night was exciting.  For about 10 seconds I had a pet rat.  But then when I was playing with it I squeezed kind of hard and it stopped moving.  Oh well.

See, what happened was my person had left the sliding glass door open so that we doggies could go in and out of the apartment onto the patio.  The grounds here at the apartment complex are covered with ivy.  Those of you that live in CA know that ivy and rats have an incredible law of attraction. person is on the phone in a conference call for work and I'm just minding my own business when a plump rat has the audacity to come into the apartment and make a run for the bird room!  Of course I jump in and do my duty and take care of business.  My person was actually talking to the other people on the phone and she had to take a little break to recover from the shock of having a large rodent run past her feet and then a super brave and talented and clever canine grab that rat and shake its little brains out.

I then took that rat and carefully laid it by the door and sat quietly looking at my person.  I wasn't sure if she was going to be mad or not...she does not like my obsession with rodents.  But she was super happy!  She petted me and said I was a good dog -- maybe even a great dog.  The rat was lying over by the sliding glass door with its little feet in the air and it's long bare tail flat on the floor.  It had a brown body and a white tummy.  I thought it was kind of cute but my person quivered when she she took the broom and dustpan and pushed it into a paper bag and threw it outside.

Today I sniffed around on the patio hoping that rat has some siblings.  Don't worry, it does.
